How can one be a better person without being good?
Yet being a “good person” has a bad name. Why is that? In this modern world, the idea of trying to be a good person or kind to someone conjures up all sorts of negative feedback. We associate love with weakness.
The prospect of being good is very vital and even more important for the individual to be a better person than he already is. While it might not be a problem with going to the gym to get fitter, it sounds strange to suggest that one works at being better.
This is probably because we imagine that being good has nothing to do with practicing, and even if it’s involved, it’s merely being fake.
Strive For A Better You
Always keep striving for a better yourself and that is within. Some suggest you to do something artistic, travel around to see the world, volunteer, develop your character, etc.
However, these activities only make you seem better to the outside world. The purpose of you being better is to have the inner calmness and peace to confidently.
As T. D Jakes said, “Others can inspire you, but ultimately the only thing that empowers you is what lies within you and learning how to better utilize what you’ve been given.”
There is no opponent. Striving for the “better you” has nothing to do with the outside world but what really goes down inside you. For example, don’t you agree that being slow to anger will make you a better person?
Are you impatient about a lot of things? Are you trustworthy? Being able to analyze these questions and actively working at them makes you a better person. No matter what the surroundings are.
Seven Deadly Sins Of Speaking
According to a Ted talk presented by Julian Treasure in Edinburgh, Scotland on June 2013, he elaborated on the 7 deadly sins of speaking you need to stop immediately. This contributes immensely on how to strive for the better you. These are habits we can all fall into.
These are habits that do not in any way good way make us better. Having these negative traits only stops us from having the peaceful quiet life we require. If we want to be better than we already are, then we need to stand on these four powerful cornerstones.
Having the desired better life is not dependent on any opponent. It hangs in your control and the ability to exhibit and cast away any behavioral habit that is not good. In the course of life, we would have to see life through other’s eyes, practice giving, emulate diplomacy, and everything that can be shown to others. However, these cannot be accomplished if you haven’t dealt with the habits within.
“Unfortunately, many of us often spend our lives doing what we were trained to do. Some do what they were asked to do. And so most of us do what others need us to do. And all the while, we wonder why the feeling fulfillment eludes us” — T. D. Jakes
I personally feel in order to become a better version of yourself, one brilliant idea is to start your own business venture. It can bring hope and smiles to few people in your sorroundings.
You can start this by checking the feasibilty of your business idea by doing a survey, posting a job online if everything goes smooth it will test your problem solving skills.
Eventually if you succeed many others in the society will be benefited as well. And these will definitly turn you a wiser person.
